Introducing The Benrus Type 2 Mil Spec Re-Edition

Monochrome's article about the Benrus Type 2 Mil Spec Re-Edition explores the revival of a classic military field watch originally designed in 1972 for elite U.S. Navy SEALs and Underwater Demolition Teams.

First produced alongside the Type 1 Mil Spec, the new Type 2 maintains the same rugged specifications but features a more detailed dial with Arabic numerals and a 24-hour inner scale. Its matte black finish ensures optimal legibility, while Super-LumiNova provides excellent visibility at night.

The sandblasted stainless steel case, smaller than the 1970s original, measures 39.5mm and includes a screw-down crown guard, 365-metre water resistance, and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Inside, the watch is powered by the reliable ETA 2892 automatic movement, offering a 42-hour power reserve.
